Denodo and Customers AAA & Wolters Kluwer to Present Data Virtualization Sessions at Enterprise Data World

PALO ALTO, CA, April 22, 2013 -Denodo Technologies, the leader in data virtualization, today announced that its customers AAA and Wolters Kluwer will deliver two data virtualization case studies at Enterprise Data World summit in San Diego on April 28 - May 2.  Suresh Chandrasekaran, Denodo Technologies’ senior VP, will also deliver a revealing session titled, Best and Worst Practices in Data Virtualization.

  • On Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 11:20 AM - 12:10 PM, Masha Bykin, Data Delivery Manager and Anthony Kopec, Data Solutions Architect Manager, Enterprise Information Management at automotive, travel, insurance and financial services provider AAA will present AAA Changes Wheels While Driving 70mph: Virtualized Data Helps Implement New Organizational Structure and Delivers Flexible Information Architecture.  AAA of Northern CA, NV, and UT, recently decided to separate its auto club and insurance divisions into separate companies with separate data centers.  In this session, presenters will discuss how AAA’s Information Management leveraged data virtualization to maintain existing data services for both applications and analytical users, to bring up new services and to change underlying data sources and structures.  As a result, AAA was able to speed integration by pointing ETL to virtualized sources; improve agile BI; expose spreadsheet and semi-structured data as virtualized databases to support desktop applications; and create single customer views for cloud CRM.
  • On Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 8:30 AM - 9:20 AM, Guy Hanan, Data Conversion Manager at Wolters Kluwer will present a session titled, Big Data but NOT in Hadoop: Industrial Strength Web Data Collection.  Wolters Kluwer provides information services to many verticals in 40 countries. Unprecedented growth in regulatory and social data has fueled demand for its products, but also poses significant scalability and complexity challenges in automating data collection.  In this session, attendees will learn to expand their view of Big Data and the many ways to leverage Web data; understand the challenges and complexities of dynamic web data extraction process; how advanced web automation works and differs from scripts and desktop scraping tools; real-world web automation uses; and future projects that couple web automation with data integration.
  • On Tuesday, April 30th from 3:20-4:10, Denodo SVP, Suresh Chandrasekaran will present a session titled, Best and Worst Practices for Data Virtualization.  Unlike data federation and enterprise information integration, data virtualization is considered a far more successful technology and is becoming a critical information management capability at major companies. The pressure to deliver timely and agile data access to meet the business need for both BI and operational applications is getting higher.  While data virtualization is mature and real, organizations should not confuse it with past federation approaches -- rather, they need to learn from past mistakes and create new best practices from the current generation of data virtualization technology.  Attendees will learn the five best (and worse) practices for delivering agile data access and provisioning of virtualized data services including: what data virtualization really is and the key differences and improvements over past approaches; how technologies and more importantly business needs and use cases have changed; why is it important to consider data virtualization across analytical, operational and data management scenarios.
