The real benefit of Denodo is that it allows us to bring data together in ways we could not have previously and to build trusted data products. For example, we’ve been able to build an app for home visits for use by our Housing services, KPI reporting on building safety, and redesigning a simpler reporting infrastructure for our Adult Social Care service.

Camden Council, a London borough known for its commitment to social equity and public accountability, delivers hundreds of public services, from housing and social care to finance and building safety. Supporting these services is a complex data landscape, with information spread across multiple systems, locations, and formats.

## Modernizing Data Access to Improve Citizen Services Across Departments

Over time, Camden's data systems evolved in silos. Shadow systems, legacy pipelines, hardcoded business rules, and reporting logic locked inside dashboards made data difficult to maintain, verify, and reuse. Inconsistent business semantics and limited metadata and data lineage transparency added to these challenges.

To address this, Camden implemented the Denodo Platform as a central layer for logical data management, connecting cloud and on-premises systems without unnecessary data replication. By establishing shared business semantics and reusable, layered data views, Camden can deliver trusted data products with stable data contracts, while supporting secure integration with its master data management (MDM) platform.

This foundation is supporting several council initiatives. For the Golden Thread initiative, unified housing and asset management data provides consistent views for building safety compliance reporting. Integration with Camden's MDM platform also enables cross-domain insights across Housing and Adult Social Care, including people receiving care and support who live in social housing.

Camden has also built an application for Housing home visits and is redesigning a simpler reporting infrastructure for Adult Social Care. Direct data connectivity has reduced cloud storage costs, while improved data discoverability has helped reduce onboarding time for analysts and report builders.
