The success of a data-driven enterprise depends on building a high-quality, secure, and compliant data foundation to create competitive insights. However, the increasing complexity of data sources and stores scattered across a hybrid, multi-cloud, distributed data estate is a major challenge.

Two solutions have emerged that can help overcome this challenge: data mesh and data fabric software. Data mesh democratizes data engineering to enable multiple teams to build reusable data products with enterprise-wide identifiers, while data fabric software provides a common data platform to securely connect and manage distributed data sources.

This paper examines both solutions and how they can work together to accelerate the development of a data foundation for a data-driven enterprise.
