The only way many organizations, including higher education institutions, survived the Coronavirus pandemic and some thrived was through digital transformation of their businesses. But such transition from a physical to a virtual way of doing business, such as from in-person to virtual classes, necessitated a rapid need for data and associated technology. Denodo, which always has a strong ethos in corporate social responsibility, quickly established the Coronavirus Data Portal (CDP) using data virtualization technology to help its worldwide customers and partners alike, to get COVID-19 data through a single source of the truth. This data was beneficial, for instance to higher education institutions and local governments to understand the incidence rates in a particular geographic region and determine when to use virtual classes versus in-person teaching.
