The consulting arm of a Kansas-based global manufacturing conglomerate operates as an internal engine to create a long-term, sustainable competitive advantage for the rest of the enterprise. The company employs over 120,000 people globally, with more than 60,000 employees across 50 U.S. states, offering a wide spectrum of products, technologies, and services.
Moving to a Modern Data Mesh
Due to a data infrastructure that was built on legacy systems, this consulting division faced a number of challenges in its efforts to support the larger enterprise, including the inability to support real-time data, fragmented data across silos, and escalating project and governance costs. To address these challenges, the division needed a more modern data infrastructure, so the division implemented the Denodo Platform on AWS, to support the transition to a data mesh configuration.
The new infrastructure minimized data transformation at the source systems, shifting transformation responsibilities to the consuming systems to improve speed and accuracy. This scaled the company’s M&A initiatives, driving business growth. As a result, the division reduced its technical debt, democratized data, streamlined its ability to deliver trustworthy data products, enhanced security, and accelerated its M&A data integration efforts at scale.
