Denodo DeepQuery is now generally available on GitHub. DeepQuery is a breakthrough capability that extends beyond fact-based retrieval (like “What’s our churn rate in the Northeast?”) to tackle complex, analytical questions such as “Why is churn increasing, and what factors are driving it?”

What makes DeepQuery unique is its ability to operate directly against live, governed data across your enterprise—spanning departments, systems, and formats. By leveraging the Denodo Platform’s semantic layer and rich metadata, DeepQuery enables AI agents that not only retrieve the right data, but can also interpret it with the right business context. This drives more accurate, explainable responses that business leaders and data teams can trust.

DeepQuery is available on GitHub under an open-source license, but if you prefer a guided start, you can request access to the AI Accelerator Program, to work with our experts to jump start your AI initiatives.

Together with Query RAG and newly added MCP support, DeepQuery reinforces Denodo’s role as the data access layer for enterprise AI—delivering a full spectrum of GenAI capabilities, from retrieval to deep reasoning.

  • A Data Marketplace Experience That Mirrors E-Commerce: The Denodo Data Catalog is now renamed the “Data Marketplace,” reinforcing its role as a true self-service portal into enterprise data. With an intuitive, e-commerce-style interface, business users can easily browse, access, and govern trusted data products—accelerating insights without waiting on technical teams.
  • Smarter Self-Service Querying: The query and data preparation wizards now include powerful enhancements such as DISTINCT queries (those that return only unique values) and multi-level relationship navigation. These improvements make it easier for power users to replicate familiar experiences from tools like Business Objects, while gaining more accurate, flexible results in self-service scenarios.
  • Denodo Assistant with AI-Driven Metadata Intelligence: Denodo 9.3 expands Denodo Assistant by automatically generating and updating metadata embeddings in a vector database (PGVector). Now available is advanced text-to-SQL capabilities in the VQL shell, enabling users to query data in natural language without writing complex code. This marks the beginning of a new wave of AI-driven enhancements powered by vector storage, opening the door to even more powerful features in future releases. 

Strengthening Federated Governance and Security

To simplify oversight while enhancing compliance, security, and control in dynamic environments, Denodo enables:

  • Dynamic Access Policies for Fine-Grained Security: Denodo 9.3 introduces a new type of access control policy that performs on-demand lookups at query time. For example, sales data can be restricted dynamically based on a user’s assigned region in the CRM—without custom code. This agile approach keeps governance in pace with changing business needs.
  • Expanded Privileges for File Access: Enhancements to the FILE privilege now enable administrators to specify which folders can be accessed by each user or role. This is especially valuable in multi-tenant environments, where Excel and other file-based connections are required, for tighter control and security.
  • AI-Based Tagging for Simplified Governance: With AI-based tagging, Denodo 9.3 can automatically identify sensitive data, such as PII, and apply the right metadata tags. This automation streamlines security enforcement, reduces manual effort, and enables consistent governance across the enterprise.

Increasing Agility for Operational and AI Workloads

To improve performance, adaptability, and scalability across hybrid and cloud environments, Denodo enables:

Generative AI
  • Materialization with Greater Agility and Control: The redesigned Materialization panel (previously “Cache”) reflects Denodo’s modern approach to selectively persisting data in tables rather than in memory. New capabilities include schema evolution without data loss, simplified incremental load configuration, and graphical directed acyclic graph (DAG) views for dependencies. Together, these enhancements improve flexibility, accelerate query performance, and support advanced use cases.
  • Write-back Through Databricks Unity: Denodo 9.3 enables write-back to managed Iceberg tables through the Databricks Unity Catalog, extending lakehouse architectures beyond analytics into real-time operational use cases. This capability allows organizations to not only query but also persist updates directly into governed lakehouse environments, supporting closed-loop scenarios such as operational dashboards, transactions, and feedback systems.
  • Agora Expands to Azure: Agora, the Denodo cloud service, is now available on Microsoft Azure, giving customers more choice in how they deploy Denodo. With built-in support for external identity providers like Okta and EntraID, Agora delivers secure, enterprise-ready authentication while reducing infrastructure management overhead.
  • Broader Connectivity and Development Enhancements: Denodo 9.3 adds support for KingbaseDB, enables Sybase and ClickHouse as caching engines, and accelerates pushdowns to Databricks using Apache Arrow. Additional improvements include subquery support in HAVING clauses, refined cost estimates for subqueries, and the integration of Wrapper Source Configuration into Design Studio—making development faster and more intuitive.
