In tertiary education, there is an industry mandate to use data for better student experience and support, as education becomes increasingly personalised and is seamlessly delivered through in-person and online channels. This data is also vital for student safety and care —this was the case particularly during the COVID-19 crisis. The local government health department expected education providers to understand student contact tracing in real-time.
