Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Payroll Assistant to support the management of employee compensation within our company. In this role, you will be responsible for different tasks, including inputting payroll data, computing wages, and processing payments.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid grasp of confidentiality principles, proficiency in accurate data entry, and strong mathematical aptitude. Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor are also essential qualities for success in this position.

Your primary objective will be to execute all payroll procedures swiftly and accurately, ensuring the smooth operation of payroll activities. If you are detail-oriented, possess strong math skills, and thrive professionally, we encourage you to apply.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide payroll data inputs to the external payroll service partners to accurately calculate salaries, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, etc.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll.
  • Ensure payroll compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employee 401k and HSA is being funded accurately to each payroll.
  • Coordinate new joiners or leavers' documentation with the payroll provider and the HR Team.
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and variable compensation.
  • Ensure controls are properly performed within the payroll process.
  • Calculate unemployment (and severance) payments.
  • Be the Point of Contact for employees and Managers for payroll-related inquiries and implement an efficient process to attend to frequent questions.
  • Maintain employee databases updated.
  • Assist with the preparation of audits and management reports as needed.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in payroll function.
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Proficient with Excel and Google sheets (formula, pivot tablet, vlookup etc.).
  • Excellent communication abilities with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail when working within tight deadlines.
  • Experience in data collection, entry, and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Strong confidentiality approach in all assignments and information obtained.
  • Sympathy with and understanding of the Software environment.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Experience in ADP Workforce Now (WFN).
